Super Awesome Campaign of Awesomeness
The orcs are a proud, relatively barbaric people living in tribes in the Wastes, an infertile and desert-like area west of the civilized realms of the other races. Their ancient traditions, passed down from generation to generation, celebrate martial strength and the secret lore of the Aspect of Moon and Darkness. Each tribe’s shaman serves as the representative to the Lord of Secrets, and wields a raw form of dark magic in his service.
Though the various tribes often war with each other, the orcs in general keep themselves out of the affairs of the greater world and have almost never interferred with the other races. One notable exception took place at the end of the Age of Myth, when several orc tribes joined an alliance of humans and elves to repel the rampaging armies of the Dwarven Empire.
As the orcs are content to ignore the world, the world has largely been content to ignore the orcs. The more zealous branch of the Church of Light, the organized religion that in modern times forms the greatest percentage of worship of the Aspect of Light, has sent missionaries into orc lands to spread the fire of truth to the “unenlightened barbians.” While many of these missionaries have faced gruesome ends for their efforts, their work has not entirely failed to bear fruit. A handful of orcs and half-orcs have converted to the worship of the Light, facing persecution and exile from their home tribes as a result.
